General Class Policy

Classes are scheduled for quarters; the Fall Session is October, November and December.  The Winter Session is January, February and March.  The Spring Session is April, May and June.  And the Summer Session is July, August and September.

Winter Session Classes

Ballroom Dancing - February                                                Fox Trot  --Beginner classes B                                                                                                  Instructors:  Miranda and Joseph Curry                   Friday Evenings:   7:30 to 8:30  

Learn the Fox Trot in February!!  There will be a Dance Party held on Fenruary 25th from 7:30 to 9:30 with refreshments served.

Miranda Curry is a professional ballet dancer and currently serves as a professor of Ballroom Dancing at Grand Valley State University.  She is also choreographer, ballet mistress, teacher and dancer for the Flat River Dance Company. Joseph is retired from professional ballet dancing and keeps in step during these fun entergetic classes. 

Cost for each class is $10 per person, per class. 

MINIMUM of 3 couples are required for each class, please pre-register via email by clicking here.  Provide your name, name of the class and date(s) you plan to attend. Plan to pay at the class, cash or check preferred, but we do take credit and debit cards.

Voice Lessons 
Instructor: Nubia Gomez
                                           Monday afternoons:  3:30 to 6:30 pm

Nubia has a BA in Theatre with a Minor in Music from Aquinas College.  She is currently on the board of directors for Vocal Music Workshop and on the Grand Awards Nominating Committee for TYA.  She teaches private voice, dance, and acting.  She is also a local director, music director and choreographer.  She studies voice with Scott Bosscher.  Private lessons are 60 minutes for $35.  Call to schedule your lesson times.

Suzuki or Traditional Violin Lessons
Instructor: Anna VelderKamp
                                        Monday & Wednesday afternoons:  3:30 to 6:30 pm

Anna works closely with the Rockford Public Schools Orchestra Director to provide instruction to students in accordance to the guidelines and techniques also being taught in the school system.  Private lessons are 30 minutes for $25.  Call to schedule your lesson times.

Piano Lessons                                                  Instructor Chris Corey                                              Tuesday afternoons:  6:00 - 7:30 pm

Christopher Corey is now teaching traditional piano lessons, Children adn adults. Sign up now.  Private lessons are 30 minutes for $25.

 

Oil Painting Classes - February

                                                      Thursday Morning:  9:00 to Noon

Local Artist Patti Mollema is teaching a four class Oil Painting workshop in February.  Call for more information.

Cost is $125 for for the workshop, including 4 classes.

Thursday:  10:00 to 12:30 pm                       

Scott has been painting and drawing for over 20 years and currently teaches drawing at Forest Hills and Oil Painting at OLLI at Aquinas College.  Students will be working from a still life set-up in the medium of their choice, drawing or painting.  This workshop will focus on: drawing, value/color relationships and edges.  The workshop will begin with a demonstration along with individual instruction.
